Ernst Hoffmann, Inc was founded by Ernst R. Hoffmann. Born and raised in Germany, he was one of the few engineers who worked directly with the first electronic engraving machine ever built at Fa Dr. Ing Rudolf Hell, Germany. From 1970-76, Ernst worked as process superintendant for Parade Publications at their gravure plant in Atglen, PA. Here he produced the first electronically engraved four-color magazine in US history.
In 1976, Ernst Hoffmann left to start his own company in the beautiful Pennsylvania Duttch Contry, resharpening natural diamonds used in the gravure industry. This had never been done before anywhere in the world and it offered the electtronic engravers an alternative to replacing the stylus.
By 1983, Ernst Hoffmann had delivered a full line of diamond tools and their resharpening for the Polishmaster. Ernst Hoffmann, Inc. pioneered resharpening to break a world monopoly. In recent years, the tools, their accuracy and their materials have been drastically improved far beyond the manufacturers specifications.
